A burden came upon Sarah Anne Cooke, a Free Methodist, to pray that the Lord would give evangelist D.L. Moody the baptism of the Holy Ghost and fire. Sarah and her friend Mrs. Hawxhurst, who was a widow, seated themselves in the front row of Dwights church, and while he preached, they prayed. After the service they would say to him, We have been praying back tax relief you. Unnerved, Dwight responded, Why dont you pray for the people? The ladies replied, Because you need the power of the Spirit.

Unexpectedly, a great hunger began to form in Dwights soul. He said later48, I did not know what it was, and I began to cry out as I never did before. I really felt that I did not want to live if I could not have this power for service.

But the power would not come, primarily because Dwight refused to heed the call to go out all Chocolate the land. Mrs. Cooke said, Mr. Moodys agony was so great that he rolled on the floor and in the midst of many tears and groans cried to God to be baptized with the Holy Ghost and with fire. Dwights inner struggle refused to resolve. He was so determined to stay in Chicago regardless of Gods repeated voice whispering to his spirit: Go out and preach the Gospel all over the land.

The cry of Dwights heart was that God would fill him with the Holy Spirit. That desire continued to overwhelm him and rule over all others. Following the great Chicago fire, during which Moodys church was burned down, nearly all the chains holding him to Chicago were snapped. The remaining chain was his own will. His unyielding will was the cause for his inner turmoil, which continued unabated. Yet he craved Gods power. Moody was wrestling, panting for a Pentecost.

When Moody came to the end of himself and surrendered his will to the will of God, the last chain snapped. Immediately an overpowering sense of Gods presence flooded his soul. Almighty God had come to him. Without wasting a moments time Dwight locked himself in a nearby friends room so he could be alone with God. The room seemed ablaze with God. He stretched out on the floor and lay bathing his soul in the Divine. Of this communion and mountain top experience Moody later wrote, I can only say that God revealed Himself to me, and I had such an experience of His love that I had to ask Him to stay His hand.

Dwights will and determination suddenly came under new management as God remolded him and left him as gentle and tender as a baby. No more would he choose his path. It was up to God to do that. Thankfully, Dwight thought, I was all the time tugging and carrying water. But now I have a river that carries me.

The rivers of the Holy Spirit should flow forth from the belly of every believer in Christ (John 7:37-39). The Holy Spirit is freely given by the Father in heaven to whosoever will ask for this blessed Person within the holy Trinity (Luke 11:13). It is not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit saith the Lord of hosts (Zechariah 4:6).

The Ten Things You Must Have In Your Tackle Box

3) A couple of extra spools of fishing line. Whatever type of line you use, have extra spools in your tackle box. You just never know when you may need to re-spool you fishing reel.

4) A cell phone. Normally I would think of having a cellular telephone with you would be the definition of vanity. I mean, you're supposed to be out fishing to escape all that a cellular telephone represents, right? But it is a wonderful thing to have with you in case of an emergency.

5) An assortment of lures. And back-ups of your favorites. There are few things worse than catching fish on a certain lure, and then getting snagged and losing that lure. Only to find out that the fish won't bite on any other lure that you have with you. As perplexing as this seems, I've had it happen and it's a very bad situation to get mixed up in. Have an extra or three of your favorite lures in your tackle box, ready to go.

6) An assortment of sinkers. You'll want to have various sizes of the following: Egg sinkers, split shot sinkers, bullet weights, and a few barrel weights.

7) An assortment of hooks. Gourmet Food going to want four or five different sized hooks at least. You never know exactly what you'll need or be fishing for, for that matter. There have been times when I went walleye fishing, and ended up fishing for Bass because the walleye just weren't cooperating. Many times different species of fish require different size hooks. So have an assortment with you.

8) Jig heads and twister tails. This old standby is always good to have with you when you're fishing. A package of both 1/4 and 3/8 ounce jig heads in the colors of your choice will work. And then a couple of packages of twister tails in matching colors will be a good bet. You never know when you may want a jig.

9) A lighter or matches in a baggie. If you ever got stuck somewhere, you'll be very glad you have a way to start a fire. Just take my word for it.

10) Spare spools for your reels. This is where to keep those spare spools. If you're extra motivated, have them filled with line so they're completely ready to go. If a spool happens to break when you're out fishing and you don't have an extra spool with you, shame on you. You're tackle box is where the extras should be.

There is my top ten. Of course, there are many more things that will more than likely be in your tackle box, but these will at least get you started. Have fun and good fishing!

So the more you know about your ideal clients-and their wants, needs and problems-the easier it's going to be to write a case study that connects with them.

Example #1: "Because of my outdoor industry background and years of experience doing outdoor sports, MSR (a leading manufacture of outdoor equipment), came to me to write the sales copy for their dealer workbook. At the time, they were getting ready to launch a highly-innovative new Fast & Light backpacking tent collection. And knew this was going to be especially tricky because many of the new tent designs were WAY out-of-the-box.

Some were oddly shaped, a few were floorless tarp shelters, and one was a strange-looking single-wall design. Until recently, most consumers thought fast & light meant bug-filled, damp and uncomfortable (at best). Even if those who have handled the recount so far were replaced by impartial laymen in the court system, not much more objectitve reality will be reached as to who voted for whom.

Someone should call in experts if these legal maneuvers continue. In any other court situations, we always have the evidence tested for its validity. In Florida, it somehow was automatically assumed that the holes and chads will tell the story no matter where, when and how the tab cards were manipulated. Only God now knows the real count after the way the cards were manually handled.

( It a sad commentary that this process was used to verify the election and even more sad that a data processing tool that was used for many years by major corporations by the millions during the most prosperous time in our history was foolishly rejected. Tab cards remain the best inexpensive method for voting but simple procedures must be followed. )

The tab punched card still remains the best way for voting. The card itself is a unit record. It is a physical hard record based on a manual punching of a card. For many years, companies ran their businesses with tab cards. However, all data was considered to be "raw data" until the data was verified in a separate pass. The tab card was called a unit record because the data on it was physically limited to the individual card. In any other electronic processing this is not case. Bits and bytes are only electronic pulses in a flow of a records. They can be a very long one based on arbitrary choices. Data or pulses can be changed at any time at will or by accident.

With the old tab card system, most of all data was verified. This should have been the case with the tab card voting machines. Tab cards were designed to be a machine run processes and not handled manually. Perforated cards that were hand punched were manually handled but after the fact, the rest of the operations were run by machines. In storage of any length of time, the cards were compressed because card stock is subject to the environment in many ways.

The only thing missing from the manual card voting systems was a verification pass. This could be a simple efficient inexpenvise step. The voter would punch out the holes beside their selection as they always have and then view a simple display - it could be video home refinancing or even something simpler. The voter would then view their selections on the display and then press a verification button that everthing is OK. There would then be two records of the event - the card itself and the verified information in a simple computer fashion. The votes could then be tallied in batch mode with each batch having its own record. It could then go to a larger computer to process all the data but still have the original voting records in tact from the separate procedure, if there are any questions.

In the Florida voting problems, nothing was for sure once the cards were manually counted. Stock cards are paper products and paper is a dynamic element subject to its surrounding. For example, the cards only in boxes, that were transported in hot trucks in the Florida sun, were subject to many things. The cards could warp and popped the chads in an automatic response to the heat. Moisture also affects stock cards and could cause a horizontal or vertical bending of the card automatically. That is why it was nonsensical to watch all those people on TV checking the cards by hand. The data was still raw without any verfication process to back up the original voting selection. With all the manual handling only God really knew what was the original situation. With a simple second verification process, none of this would have been needed and the hard copy only had to compare with the verification after the fact with the clicking of the verification button on a simple display being the result of the individual voter action.

Compare this with a touch screen sophisticated computer devices. Bits and bytes of data are dynamic subject to changes at any time. The simple dynamics of card stock is easy to control. Electronic pulses are not.

Seeing the Angels win the World Series was better. Even Craig Biggio and his 3000th hit was better.

Do you get the feeling Mr. Bonds would love to retire at 754 homeruns just to cheese off baseball fans who have waited this long to see the record finally broken?

I don't hate Mr. Bonds because that would imply that I care about him. I feel sorry for him above everything else. I feel sorry for him because this should be the happiest moment in his life. He is about to eclipse a great record, yet it will always have an asterisk. He is set to retire and ride off into the proverbial sunset, yet he may have to answer federal charges soon. He's got no reason to smile. As a son of affluence, he can't even give back to his community. When it is all said and done, Barry Bonds is not likely to have any fond memories to look back on either. He'll have no championships, a tainted record, and hatred from the vast majority of baseball fans. I feel sorry for him. He has reached the point where he is hanging on like an aging hipster who doesn't know when to put away the bell-bottoms for good.

Why do people hate Mr. Bonds so much? Simple answer is that he owes us. We made him great. Without us fans, Barry Bonds would be just another flabby office worker who hits cleanup for his church league softball team. He doesn't deserve to be the one to break the record. His record is meaningless to me, and the reason is because my devotion as a fan seems meaningless to him. When the big homerun is about to be hit, I hope to be watching John Dowd strike out in a video game. When Barry Bonds refuses to give a press conference after the big blast, I promise to not give a rap about the reason why. Barry Bonds will never be more than a footnote in my book of baseball history. Yeah, he'll have records, but it's only a matter of time until they'll be broken. Yeah, he'll be the homerun king, but he can't and won't affect me.

We fans should measure athletes by their ability to give us what we can't get ourselves, like that elusive dream of sports glory. We should measure them as an ideal of how we would play if we had the chance.
